The Journey Begins

Randy R. Arnett-Romero - President
All That I Am, The Journey Begins . . .

At the early age of 14, Randy R. Arnett-Romero became known as “The Sweeper”, for his efforts at cleaning up construction sites. Discovering how interested he was in the activity of all the trades, Randy began to learn a variety of techniques that would ultimately hone his talents in framing, concrete, and trim carpentry.

By 1986, at the age of 24, Randy had elevated himself to the position of Superintendent for Butler Products, a custom home builder located in Tucson, Arizona. Within three years, Randy had mastered the masonry, plaster, and mill work trades, and was well on his way, through personal commitment, to a position of merit within the building industry. Randy was now Vice-President of Butler Products and had just completed a 9,000 square foot authentic and all-adobe home that would grace the cover of Phoenix Home and Garden magazine, billed as “Masters of the Southwest”. Randy soon became affectionately known as “The Boss” to his co-workers and subcontractors; a well-earned moniker that aptly expressed both their friendship with him…for his even-handed style of management, and respect for him…through his command of the process of melding the two.

With his other duties at Butler Products, came the responsibility of overseeing the manufacture of all of their mill work, cabinets, doors and windows. This eventually led to the manufacture of doors and hand-forged hardware for other builders and was the genesis of Southwest Door Company, still located in Tucson, and a supplier of doors, windows and hardware on a national scale.

Randy continued to build custom homes as his principal vocation and as a means to subsidize the operation of Southwest Door Company until ultimately, in 1995, he broke loose of his ties in Tucson in order to take advantage of a commission to build a period-style home in Paradise Valley; all the while, maintaining his affiliation with Southwest Door Company as an exclusive dealer for their products, while simultaneously providing his new clientele with effective buying power and superior craftsmanship.

Through the ensuing years, Randy steadfastly maintained his personal journey toward home-building excellence through the utilization of cutting-edge materials, smart-home technology, and continual product development; and in 2003, initiated a manufacturing process and the development of contemporary and period-style steel doors and windows, on his own accord. Originally only for use with his own R-Net Custom Homes clientele, Randy introduced his products to the public in 2005 through the debut of Janus Custom Building Products, named after the Roman god of “openings and closings”.

“And now here is my secret, a very simple secret; It is only with the heart that one can see rightly, what is essential is invisible to the eye.”- Antoine de Saint-Exupery

Through his early pledge to himself, Randy has maintained the very high standard of having not a single dissatisfied customer. Randy’s word is his bond. And here again, Randy melds the demands and discipline of his industry with the demands, desires, and passions of his owner/clientele and friends. Through the fulfillment of an owner’s expectations in both budget and beauty… and adherence to his own through an inherent vigilance…Randy R. Arnett-Romero demonstrates what a gratifying and exciting experience custom home-building can be through R-Net Custom Homes, Inc.
